Difference between User and Power User in Splunk

Difference between User and Power User in Splunk: Similar to other different Enterprise tools in the industry, Splunk offers us the flexibility to access control. This means that you will create users & set a password for them. With Splunk, mostly all permissions are offered depending on roles. Furthermore, users are given one or more functions. The roles are contained in various sets of capabilities/permissions.

Capability states the actions like deleting or creating reports, macros, dashboards, etc. This can be accomplished in Splunk Enterprise. Splunk Enterprise has some predefined functions available by default.

Difference between User and Power User in Splunk Role

User role is incomplete to create & edit its particular objects. It sets its individual preferences, creates, edits event types, runs searches, & other related tasks.

Power role offers the capability to edit every shared object including macros, reports, etc. Moreover, one will also edit tags, alerts, event types & other same tasks. With power role number of capabilities is more compared to the role user though less unlike with the role admin.
