One of the key features of Windows 11’s snipping tool is its ability to create screen recordings. Although it’s a basic feature, many tools are capable of recording the entire desktop sessions. It’s not only the desktop that this tool can screen record but also other apps so that you can view recordings later. Alternatively, you can save or share the recordings.
Snipping Tool enables users to choose a screen section to be recorded before initiating the recording process. However, you cannot crop or edit the footage captured using this Windows 11 application. Sadly, the snipping tool does not capture audio recording, but as long as it records the screen, it’s more we can opt for.
We all admit that several tools can record your desktop activities but the Snipping tool can be very helpful in certain situations. Assume you are performing a certain task on your PC and need to capture all the procedures; a Snipping tool can be very helpful in such a situation. Using this recording, you can easily help your colleagues or friends perform the same task. This page will discuss a step-by-step guide for recording Windows 11 screens using Snipping Tool.
Screen Record Using Windows 11’s Snipping tool
- Press Windows logo Key + Q
- Now type Snipping Tool and choose the App from the search results
- Click the record button and press the New button
- Choose the App or the area you want to record
- Click the start button to record the screen area you need
- Hit the stop button when you have recorded everything
- Before hitting the save button, review your recording
- Choose the location where you want to save the recording
- Hit the save button
After completing this process, you’ll have a file in .mp4 format saved on the location you choose when saving the file. This file is what contains all the desktop activities during the recording duration.
Only Snipping Tool version 11.2211.35.0 onwards has the screen recording feature. However, Microsoft is rolling it out slowly, and computers registered under Dev Channel and powered by Windows 11 are already enjoying this feature. You can check the Microsoft stores library page for this update if your device is enrolled on the Windows insider program.
